FULL-TIME POSITION

Park Assistant Superintendent

 SALARY:   $46,040.87 - $63,773.11

This is normally a full-time, 40 hour/week position that includes rotational Manager on Call shifts.  Job will require employee to work overtime during scheduled tournaments and/or if required for emergency repairs.  It requires the employee to have the ability to handle all the listed duties and responsibilities and possess experience/knowledge required for this position.  It also requires the listed physical abilities.

  • Park Guidelines: Memorizing, Implementing, regulating and enforcing all park policies and procedures.

  • Training: Understanding the needs & requirements of all sport user groups and ensuring that all park crew are properly trained in these areas.
  • Safety/Playability: Ensure that supervisors & foreman are conducting daily walkthroughs to ensure that all fields and gyms are set up correctly and maintained to the highest degree possible. 
  • Equipment Operation: Have complete understanding of how to properly operate and maintain all park equipment in a safe manner, ensure Staff are correctly trained in operation and maintenance.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

  • Must be able to read blue prints, electrical schematics, mechanical, structural, etc. and be able to construct and/or repair buildings, bridges, press boxes, fences, while following state codes and permit guidelines.
  • Must understand the operations and maintenance of the parks sewer and water system.
  • Must possess knowledge of chemicals such as fungicides, Herbicides, insecticides, fertilizers, when and how they are to be applied, their impact on the treated area, as well as the surrounding areas eco - system in regards to patrons and animals
  • Must posses’ knowledge of all park policies and procedures in order to enforce guidelines on a daily basis. 
 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
 This position involves some heavy manual labor at times and requires the following abilities:
  • Must undergo a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather: rain, severe heat, cold, etc.

Hours – Primarily Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., will require some weekend work and after hours during emergencies, tournaments, and last minute scheduled rentals.

 
 
 
FULL-TIME POSITION

Labor Maintenance 

Recreation District #1/Pelican Park, which is a public agency, is seeking to fill openings for Labor Maintenance. This position offers 40 hrs. per week and does involve some overtime and weekend work. This position offers great benefits such as paid health /dental insurance, retirement, vacation and sick leave. The starting salary is $12.70 per hour. This is an outdoor position that does include working in all weather conditions, such as rain, snow and heat.
Job duties include:

  • Maintaining and prepping sports fields and facilities 
  • Mowing and weed eating
  • Picking up trash
  • Maintain green areas
  • Performing janitorial duties
  • Assist in repairs and preventative maintenance to facilities and fields
  • Assist in irrigation, sod repairs and small construction projects, etc.
  • Must be able to pass a physical, drug screen, background check, and capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • The description is not all-inclusive of all duties.

Part-Time Positions:

- Pelican Park Facility Staff, Starting at $10.00/hour
This staff works in the park in the evenings and on weekends preparing for practices and games, turning on lights, attending to restrooms, some field set up, meeting the public, answering questions and problem-solving.  This position works outside the majority of the time and requires the ability to be able to lift 50lbs.  Communicates with other staff and management on a two-way radio and takes public calls via phone.  It also requires the ability to communicate in written form.  Flexible hours.


- Castine Center Event Staff, Starting at $10.00/hour
The staff works in the Castine Center to maintain all areas of the facility in "show condition" at all times including before, during and after events. Duties include but are not limited to cleaning restrooms, removing trash from all areas of the building, cleaning and setting up tables and/or chairs, vacuuming, mopping and cleaning interior/exterior windows. Position requires the ability to lift 50lbs, communicate with other staff and management via two-way radio and communicate verbally with rental groups. This is a part-time position with the majority of scheduled hours on evenings and/or weekends.


- Concessions Staff, Starting at $7.50/hour
Concession Staff workers are responsible for selling concessions to spectators at a variety of sports and local events. Welcoming guests at the concession stand, taking orders for food or beverage, presenting prices, and options, processing cash payments, operating food preparation equipment, and maintaining the concession area so it is clean and sanitized.
