Recreation District #1 is a free standing governmental agency under the direction of a 7 member Board of Commissioners. The Board meets every 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Castine Center Conference rooms. The Board has special meetings as needed. All regular and special meetings are advertised in accordance with State Public meeting laws. The public is invited to all meetings. Public comment in accordance with Board rules of procedure is allowed on each agenda item.
If you are interested in having a new item addressed at the meeting, please contact the Director Margie Lewis at MargieLewis@pelicanpark.com preferably a week in advance, but at least 48 hours in advance to be added to the agenda.
New issues can be addressed by the Board without advance notice under “new business” however the Board will not vote on the issue brought up under new business, until the next month’s meeting. This gives the Board time for the staff to prepare a report and board to research the issue.
