Recreation District #1 / Pelican Park is a public entity. Unless specified, rental of the facilities does not constitute any endorsement, sponsorship, or support by Recreation District #1. The Castine Center, gymnasiums, and outdoor spaces host a variety of social, civic, educational, and sport events, which are rented without regard to creed, point of view, or beliefs pursuant to the U.S. and Louisiana Constitutions.
The Castine Center, the largest event venue in St. Tammany Parish, is an elegant facility situated within the picturesque Pelican Park in Mandeville. Conveniently located just 6 miles from the Causeway Bridge, 2.2 miles from Highway 59, and 5.8 miles from Interstate 12, it is the perfect setting for any event. Whether you’re planning a Mardi Gras ball, award ceremony, dance recital, fundraiser, holiday gathering, board meeting, educational class, convention, festival, or sports competition, the Castine Center can accommodate your needs.

Recent Renovations
In June 2021, the District awarded a $2.7 million renovation project to Smith Construction of Lacombe. Upgrades included new flooring, sound attenuation in the arena, renovated restrooms, a new outdoor courtyard, and enhanced lighting with skylights in the concourse. Additional office and storage space was also created to support the growing needs of our community.
