Programs
No experience or prior knowledge of the natural world required to register!
The purpose of this program is to offer immersive environmental education in both a field and classroom setting while meeting the weather limitations of a Louisiana Summer. The field portions of Northshore Naturalist Day Camp will take place first thing in the morning when the weather is at its coolest; classroom portions will take place in the afternoon. The classroom portions will complement the following morning’s field activities.

>Plant Identification
>Edible Plants
>Venomous Snakes of Louisiana
>Fire Ecology
Registration is limited to 20 people and open to ages 18+.
Registration includes:
• Binocular rental
• Lunch on Tuesday
• Entrance fee to the park
Please bring with you:
• Lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
• Long sleeves shirts and pants are preferred for hikes.
• Water bottle
• Outdoor hiking shoes/boots (no open-toed shoes please)
• Bug Spray
• Sunscreen
You may want to bring:
• Binoculars
• Notebook & Pen
• Snacks
• Sun hat

8:00am-9:30am: (Beach) Bird walk with Alex Landry
9:30am-10:00am: Break
10:00am-11:30am: (Visitor’s Center) Plant walk with Garrett Shelton
11:30am-12:30pm: Lunch
12:30pm-2:00pm: (Classroom) Aquatic Ecology / Lake Pontchartrain with Lisa Landry
2:00pm-2:15pm: Break
2:15pm-3:00pm: (Classroom) Geography of Southeast Louisiana with Alex Landry
Thursday:
8:00am-11:30am: (Beach) Dip/seine netting with Lisa; Beach/coastal Ecology with with Alex.
11:30am-12:30pm: Lunch
12:30pm-1:15pm: (Classroom) Venomous Snakes with Alex Landry

7:30pm-til: Night hike, moth sheet (Fontainebleau State Park)
