2026NP - Nature Book Club - The Serviceberry - Apr 21

May 14th 6:00PM - 7:30PM
Tandem Coffee and Cocktails

Welcome to the Pelican Park Nature Book Club!

We meet once a month to discuss a book related to the natural world. Our next meeting will be at Tandem Coffee and Cocktails at 6:00pm. We will discuss "The Serviceberry" by Robin Wall Kimmerer

The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer is a short book that uses the serviceberry plant as a metaphor to explore Indigenous wisdom, gift economies, and our relationship with nature, advocating for a shift from consumerism to a more reciprocal, community-focused way of living. It contrasts the plant's generous, mutualistic relationship with the world—providing food for humans and wildlife—against a modern economy of scarcity, urging readers to find fulfillment in interdependence and gratitude.

You may bring a book for us to vote on to read for June's meeting!
