Programs
Join us for a casual introduction to birdwatching! This program consists of a two-hour overview in a classroom setting in the evening, followed by a two-hour bird walk field trip the following morning. No experience or prior knowledge required! Beginners encouraged. This class will provide you with the basics of bird identification, finding birds, and how to be a birdwatcher.
The classroom session will take place on May 9th at Fontainebleau State Park's Welcome Center at 6PM. The field trip will take place the following morning, May 10th, at Fontainebleau State Park's beach area at 8AM.
Binoculars will be available for loan thanks to a generous donation from Sport Optics and Vortex Optics. Sunscreen, water, hiking shoes, and a hat are recommended for the field trip.
This class is available to adults aged 18+. Be on the lookout for family-friendly bird watching classes in the future!
Accessibility: The classroom portion will take place indoors with nearby accessible restrooms and a water fountain. The parking lot is paved with designated handicap spaces.
The field trip will take place on flat ground covered in grass or hard packed mud as well as a sandy beach. Fontainebleau State Park has an all-terrain wheelchair available to rent on a first come, first serve basis. Restrooms are accessible. The parking lot is paved with designated handicap spots. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any accessibility concerns you may have. We are happy to accommodate you to the best of our ability!
